Did you inherit your conservatory when you bought your home or is it something you have added since living there? Either way, Elglaze has great ideas up our sleeves to ensure you get the most out of your conservatory this summer – and year-round for that matter!
The last thing any of us want is for our conservatory to end up looking like an after-thought. Something just bolted on to the back of our homes. After all, whether you have installed your conservatory yourself, or it was already part of your home, it represents a big investment and had the ability to increase our home’s value – increasing it by between 7% and 11% depending on the style and size of the conservatory. One thing we need to pay attention to is ensuring our conservatory matches the style of our house.
Flooring: With the better weather and more traffic through your conservatory into the garden, look to your flooring. If you want to avoid your conservatory looking and feeling like an afterthought or just separate from the rest of your home, a good way to create a sense of flow from your main dwelling into your conservatory, is to install similar flooring. If you conservatory leads off your kitchen for example, then ensure the floor ties match. If you have floorboards, then extend these into your conservatory for a seamless look.
Bringing the Garden In: Conservatories usually function as a half-way area between the house and the garden. Often they provide a better access to the garden than the back door – or have replaced the back door entirely. In the summer months, there’s nothing like throwing open the doors and windows of your conservatory to let the outside in. And all that extra sunlight is proven to be good for us! Our recent blog post is all about creating that feeling of the outdoors inside your conservatory with colour and décor. Add indoor plants and also look at whether your conservatory doors or windows need replacing. Is the glass cracked or are the frames weathered? Ask yourself if it’s time to upgrade your grazing and then talk to us. You can also find tips on cleaning your conservatory here:
Adding a Roof: To completely avoid that ‘bolted on’ look of many conservatories, why not turn your conservatory into a proper extension by installing an Equinox Tiled Conservatory Roof? Not only will it then look like a seamless and integral part of your home, you will be able to use it like any other room in your home – no matter what the weather or the season. Plus, you won’t have to sacrifice all the benefits of the additional light your conservatory gives you resulting in a win/win 365 day a year living space.
