Bensons for Beds’ window replacements
Building Surveyor, Guy Woodford, chooses Elglaze for the new double glazing units
Bensons for Beds is a British bed retailer, selling a diverse range of beds, mattresses and bedroom furniture across its 170+ stores and online. Headquartered in Accrington, Lancashire, Bensons for Beds has a dedicated manufacturing site based in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, where more than a third of its beds, divans and mattresses are made, as well as distribution centres in Ayr, Huncoat and Tewkesbury.
Guy Woodford, Building Surveyor for Bensons for Beds, is responsible for the repairs and maintenance of the property estate and headed up the recent window replacement project at the factory site.
On-site during the installation
“Before being replaced, the windows were single glazed metal framed units between 40 and 50 years old. They were in poor condition and thermally inefficient. Improving the energy efficiency of our buildings is part of Bensons Sustainability Strategy.”
Bensons for Beds’ comprehensive ‘Bensons Together’ 2040 Sustainability Strategy acknowledges the importance of improving its impact on the planet, people and communities and the importance of working together to achieve its targets. Guy initially chose Elglaze to supply and install the new uPVC double glazed units because the company was based close to the factory site and it was important for the Bensons team to use a local contractor in order to support the local business community.
“The new windows provide improved thermal efficiency and have eliminated cold draughts which in turn has improved the working environment for the Bensons staff. The installation itself was quick and efficient. Good planning and execution along with the help and co-ordination of the on-site team minimised disruption.
In conclusion Elglaze delivered value for money and I found the team to be efficient, professional and helpful. I would recommend Elglaze and in fact they will be doing some more work for us very soon.”
