Garden Studios

Elglaze Garden Studio in black cladding with french doors and corner window

Stylish, secure, warm and dry. Our new range of Garden Studios offer the ideal solution for adding extra space to your home. A garden studio from Elglaze makes great use of your external space. It also provides a way of enjoying your garden, year-round.

Should I choose a Garden studio or a Conservatory?

A garden studio is a structure built in your garden, separate from your home whereas a conservatory is built onto your property. In that respect, a conservatory is similar to an extension. It often entails planning applications and is a generally more ‘involved’ process. A garden studio however, being a standalone structure, avoids a number of these processes. Installing a garden studio is generally faster and more cost effective. It offers the same excellent finish you would expect from a conservatory. This includes your choice of doors and windows, exterior finish and interior features.

Fuss-free installation

Our garden studios are designed and built to require minimal groundwork. If you have an existing concrete base, this can be used and extended if required. Even if no concrete base exists, we have a unique base system on which our studios can be constructed. Our system requires a much less invasive oversite. Obstacles in the ground such as drains, electrical cables and pipes are easily avoided reducing the overall cost.

When purchasing a garden room from a retailer, you are often required to arrange construction of the base prior to delivery. This is a cost often not included in the price of the garden room itself. However, as with all Elglaze projects, we take care of everything. The price you pay includes all groundworks (subject to survey).

Materials and construction

Our garden studios are constructed from kiln-dried timber and are fully insulated with 100mm Celotex insulation below the floor, in all walls and in the roof. The walls also include a breathable vapour barrier to avoid condensation on the interior.

The interior is plaster finished and features skirting boards. The floor material is a high-density particle board but you can of course have any style of covering – laminate, vinyl, even carpet and we can provide a quote for your needs.

The exterior can be finished with HardiePlank cladding, pressure treated shiplap or uPVC cladding. HardiePlank comes in a wide range of colours as does the uPVC cladding and both require zero maintenance. If shiplap is specified, this comes in a natural brown or black but you are free to paint this in any colour you choose, perhaps even choose a new shade every couple of years. We also include two exterior lights to the front of the studio.

The windows and doors included are all A rated uPVC profiles featuring A rated toughened glass units and with multi-point locking which conforms to Secured by Design standards. You have a range of colours to choose from including white or cream through to anthracite grey and a number of woodgrain finishes.

We include a corner window which drops to the floor of the studio giving an abundance of light and a wonderful feeling of space.

Power to your studio

We include installation of electric to your new studio via an armoured cable from your property. This is subject to survey to make sure your existing consumer unit can accommodate this connection. Our studios are fitted with their own consumer unit, two double sockets to the interior, 4 to 6 LED downlights in the ceiling and two external lights as standard.

Bespoke for you

The standard specification for our garden studios, outlined above, makes for a fantastic and versatile room. At 3.6m x 4.8m the proportions are generous. But should you wish for more space or even if you require something a little smaller, we can design and build something bespoke to you. This includes door styles – perhaps you would prefer sliding patio doors or even bi-folds – and window styles and placement. We can also provide flooring to your specification. We recommend Camaro flooring which is available in a huge range of styles and brings a real premium finish as well as being extremely hard wearing.

Have your studio, your way.
