Golden Oak uPVC Windows & Patio Doors
For this recent project, the Elglaze team were asked to help modernise a home with ageing timber windows and doors. The existing frames were rosewood-coloured wood, and while they had served the property well over the years, they were now showing clear signs of wear and were no longer performing as they should.
For this recent project, the Elglaze team were asked to help modernise a home with ageing timber windows and doors. The existing frames were rosewood-coloured wood, and while they had served the property well over the years, they were now showing clear signs of wear and were no longer performing as they should.
The homeowner wanted something that would both freshen up the appearance of the house and provide a long-term, low-maintenance solution. Golden Oak uPVC casement windows and matching patio doors were the perfect fit.

Brighten and update
The key aims for this project were:
- Replace old wooden windows and patio doors that were past their best
- Improve thermal performance and reduce ongoing maintenance
- Lighten the overall look of the property without losing character
The customer liked the warmth of the original rosewood finish but felt it made the house look a little dark and dated. Golden Oak offered a slightly lighter, fresher tone while still keeping the natural, timber–style appearance they wanted.
Golden Oak uPVC windows and patio doors
After an initial survey and discussion of options, the customer chose:
- Golden Oak uPVC casement windows throughout the home
- A matching Golden Oak uPVC patio door to replace the old timber unit
This combination not only tied the whole look together, but also delivered:
- Modern double glazing for improved energy efficiency
- Low-maintenance frames that won’t need sanding, staining or painting
- Better long-term resistance to weathering compared to timber
Installation: from old timber to modern uPVC
On the installation day, the team removed the existing timber windows and patio door (no easy feat), making sure surrounding brickwork and internal finishes were protected.
The new uPVC frames were then fitted, aligned and sealed, with attention paid to neat sightlines and consistent reveals. The patio door was set up for smooth operation, providing easy access to the garden and a more reliable, draught-free closure than the older unit it replaced.
The result: a brighter, more welcoming home
The difference is clear the moment you look at the property.
The Golden Oak finish has noticeably brightened the exterior, giving the home a warmer, more inviting appearance. The grain effect on the uPVC frames provides the look of timber without the upkeep, and the new patio door creates a clean connection between the indoor space and the garden.

Alongside the visual uplift, the homeowner now benefits from:
- Improved insulation and comfort
- Reduced maintenance demands
- Modern, secure locking systems on windows and doors
It’s a good example of how a like-for-like replacement in a carefully chosen finish can completely refresh a home, without changing its character.
